Like any hunting camp, morning comes early. In fact, many guests find it difficult to sleep the night before their first Canadian hunt of the season.

After a continental style breakfast of juice, coffee and toast (and usually a few other homemade goodies to stave off any early morning hunger), we head out for the hunt. Our well scouted fields are always within a ½ hour of the lodge. Having arrived, we all participate in the placement of decoys. We "decorate" our ground blinds with foliage found in the field to hide from our much anticipated quarry. We then sit back and enjoy some coffee and a little comraderie before the show begins.

At about sunrise our first groups of geese arrive. Quite often they are preceded by swarms of ducks. They arrive in grand style and are vitually on top of us when the guide lets out the signal and the shooting marathon begins.

With any luck we'll be clearing up our decoys and off to camp for lunch with a limit of birds.

Back at camp we have a hearty lunch (Murray and Lorraine's cooking can satisfy any appetite) and then perhaps a well deserved nap.

Once into late afternoon or early evening, we set off for another hunt. We have a Jon Boat complete with a Go-Devil that we use in a nearby lake with 1st class floating blinds. Here we hunt a "mixed bag" of ducks. We hunt Blue-winged and Green-winged Teal, Pintails, Mallards, Canvasbacks, Red-Heads, Gadwalls and other species (we even bagged a Shoveler or two).

We also hunt ducks in grain fields or smaller potholes. We simply go where the birds are.

At dusk it's off to camp for a "gourmet" meal and perhaps "happy hour".

By now the day is over and the comfort of a good night sleep is in order. However, the remainder of the evening is open to spend how you wish and tomorrow will be here before you know it.
